Republican Kuypers to challenge Rep. Anthony DeLuca
Republican Al Kuypers Sr. is running for Illinois House District 80. He is challenging incumbent Democrat Anthony DeLuca. DeLuca has held onto the seat since 2009. No Republican has challenged him. In 2020 Clayton Cleveland, a Libertarian ran against him in 2020 but lost.
We asked Mr. Kuypers why he decided to run for the Illinois House. He responded:
“I'm a husband, father and grandfather. I am a proud Conservative Republican that loves our state and great nation. The reason I'm running is that as a business owner, I have seen the effects of this economy personally. I have seen many businesses shut their doors and be forced to layoff their employees. This started with the Democratic shutdown of Illinois. Forcing mandates on businesses and Illinois residents. Because of this action, they crippled our economy and attacked our citizen's constitutional rights, causing tens of thousands of our families to flee to other states for freedoms they lost here.
Because of mandates alone, there has been a large portion of our population migrating to other states because of business shutdowns and people losing their jobs. We are suffering from too many regulations. Meanwhile, we are being taxed to death. This is not acceptable. Our kids are being taught sex education in school as babies while being force to wear masks and suffering from school shutdowns. Our children are today social experiments. Let them be kids again. Our Police are attacked by activist Politicians. Because of the anti-Police Bill HB3653, today criminals have more rights than innocent citizens. Our economy is broken. Inflation is sky-high. Taxes are increasing to pay for needless social programs while our pension collapse and fails.
I am pro-life. I'm pro-2nd Amendment. I will protect our pensions. Crime is out of control. We need more enforcement to prevent crime. I want to provide better care for our seniors giving them the tools they need to live comfortably instead of fighting just to stay alive. I want better care for our veterans. For too long, they have been neglected. Just look at the Veteran nursing home disaster. I want to lower taxes and rebuild our Illinois economy. My plan includes bringing back business that will fuel our economy and to bring back jobs. I will fight for the farms and the farmers. I will prevent needless Climate Change laws. I believe in term limits. I will fight corruption. Illinois can find itself back to how great it once was. Because of inaction and misdeeds our elected leaders have failed us. I promise I will not fail you.”
This year many Conservatives are stepping forward to run for office dissatisfied with the Democratic leadership. After the mandates fiasco and the broken economy many Republicans are stepping up to challenge the Democrats who hold a super majority in both Houses.
With Darren Bailey being the Republican nominee for Governor, many Republicans are following him as the leader of the pack for candidates ready to take back Illinois.
Al Kuypers is a supporter of Darren Bailey.
